LCC men stay busy during spring break

Spring break has arrived at Laredo Community College, but that doesn’t mean that all is calm and quiet at the Fort McIntosh Campus.

The Crispin “Doc” Sanchez Field will be alive with baseball action as the LCC Palominos host the nationally ranked San Jacinto College Gators in a conference doubleheader on Saturday, March 15 at 12 p.m.

The Palominos, who currently stand 4-5 in Region 14 South Zone conference action and are 12-15 overall, are in for a real challenge as they battle the Gators, who are ranked third among junior colleges in the country.

The action between LCC and San Jacinto continues on Sunday, March 16 at 11 a.m.

The Palominos return to the LCC baseball field on Wednesday, March 19 for more conference action.

This time, they face the Whitecaps of Galveston College in a doubleheader at 12 p.m., followed by a single match on Thursday, March 20 at 11 a.m.

All games are free and open to the community.

Tennis Notes

The Palomino men's tennis team also stays busy during spring break.

The group travels to San Antonio on Tuesday, March 18 to play a re-match against the Cardinals of the University of Incarnate Word, an NCAA Division 2 team.  The action starts at 2 p.m.

LCC already has defeated UIW this season 6-3 in a match held recently on Palomino turf.

The Palominos, ranked first in men’s junior college tennis, are riding on a 5-0 winning streak.
