Child Development Program:

The Child Development curriculum is designed to train people as assistants, teachers, or directors in early childhood programs.  Committed to the idea that quality care makes positive difference in the lives of children and their famlies, the program responds to the demand for quality child care staff.  The curricula address CDA competencies as well as criteria for quality early childhood programs developed by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

Instruction is centered on lecture, lab, and field experience classes which offer direct participation in a variety of settings, including child care centers, preschools, nursery schools and early childhood special education programs.

 Early Childhood Education Program (Associates of Arts)       

The Associates of Arts curricula for transfer to a baccalaureate programs that lead to initial Texas teacher Certification.  This degree is transferable from Texas public community colleges to universities having educator preparation programs.  This degree is offered in an effort to address the critical need of teachers in the state.  Basically, this degree includes the completion of LCC's core curriculum and field of study courses in the area of specialization in the place of electives.
