Child Development Resource Room

Rules and Regulations

The Child Development Resource Room is available for use by LCC students enrolled in the Child Development Program.

 

The purpose of the Child Development Resource Room is to give the students an opportunity to work on class assignments/projects.  Students also have access to the use of AC (audio-visual) equipment such as Overhead Projectors (for enlarging pictures), Tape Recorder/CD Player, Dell Computer, HP Color Printer, and Dell Printer (Black only).

 

All students must acquaint themselves and observe the rules/regulations of the Child Development Resource Room.  A schedule of hours is posted on the door to inform students of the availability of the room.

WHAT CANNOT BE CHECKED OUT BUT CAN BE USED IN THE CHILD DEVELOPMENT RESOURCE ROOM?

There are other materials available; however, these materials can be used in the Child Development Resource Room only.  The following materials/equipment cannot be checked out:

 

Art Supplies:  Students can only use these materials in the Child Development Resource Room:

 

NOTE Laminating Machine and Wax Machine cannot be used half an hour before Child Development Resource Room is closed for the day.

 

 

OTHER RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS

Ideas for activities during circle time can be found in an activity filing box and in the Teacher Resources shelf located:  Curriculum Books; Brown shelf

The Curriculum books provide detailed information about all kinds of activities, and definitely very useful when in need of ideas.

 

NOTE:  Also be sure to use the Zaffarini and Laredo Public Library as another form of resource.

 

 

COMPUTER USAGE

·        Computer usage is limited to Child Development students with instructor approval and Lab Assistant supervision

·        Child Development Resource Room Lab computers are to be used only for Child Development class assignments and major projects

·        Computers can be used only when the Child Development Resource Room is open (Schedule is posted outside of Child Development Resource Room)

·        Students must provide their own supplies for saving work (Pen-drive, floppy disk, CD-ROM).

 

 

 

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION!

Please note that students who are continuously delinquent (a total of 3 times during the semester) of over-due materials, will be denied the privileges in checking out materials for the remainder of the semester.  The Child Development Department would regret to have to deny you the helpful resources available.

 

When planning a circle time be sure to check the picture files for realistic photographs that can be shown to the children.

       

 

STUDENT USE OF TV/VCR AND TAPE RECORDER/CD PLAYER

Students wishing to view/hear any resource materials used in class, for reviewing purposes and/or teacher request, may do so by informing the Child Development Lab Assistant for a scheduled appointment.

 

TUTORING FOR CHILD DEVELOPMENT CLASSES

Tutoring is available to all Child Development students needing assistance in any Child Development course.  The Child Development Lab Assistant is available for tutoring during open Child Development Resource Room hours.  The students must, however, schedule and appointment for tutoring services. 

Tutoring limits:  There are no limits to how many times a student may be tutored; it is only asked that students schedule an appointment.   

 

 

LAMINATING OF SPECIAL PROJECTS/ASSIGNMENTS

The Child Development Resource Room is equipped with a laminating machine.  CDEC 2307 & 2486 students are able to laminate at the Child Development Resource Room with signed permission slip from instructor (Get permission slip with Lab Assistant).  If instructor is not available, secretary can sign the permission slip.  CDEC 2307 students can laminate 10 ft. per semester and CDEC 2486 students can laminate 15 ft. per semester.

 

 

TAKE ADVANTAGE FOR THE CHILD DEVELOPMENT RESOURCE ROOM.  THERE IS A VARIETY OF MATERIALS/EQUIPMENT THAT CAN BE PUT TO GOOD USE.  THE CHILD DEVELOPMENT LAB ASSISTANT IS AVAILABLE TO ASSIST IN WHATEVER THE STUDENT’S NEEDS MAY BE.

                                                           

Be sure to check the Child Development Resource Room Schedule located on the Child Development Resource Room door (C104).  Hours Change per semester or according to classes.  Schedule is subject to change.
